LORETO, BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, MEXICO:

Loreto, Mexico is located in the state of Baja California Sur, north of La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. This secluded paradise offers an array of outdoor activities, but with a quaint “hometown” feel and a population of under 15,000. Positioned on the Baja Peninsula, Loreto is an authentic Mexican paradise without the bustling tourist scene.

Climate

Loreto’s weather is warm year round with the hottest months June to October.  Fall and winter months can see cooler temperatures and are a great time for our tour activities when it is cold up north but warm and sunny in Loreto with comfortable temperatures for biking, dirt biking and in the UTV’s. 

Sierra de la Giganta

The Sierra de la Giganta is a mountain range of eastern Baja California Sur state, located on the southern Baja California Peninsula in northwestern Mexico. According “Througth the Sierra” , Baja California Sur is a privileged land of contrasting and immeasurable beauty. It is also a land that was conquered in 1697 by the cross and not the sword. Loreto is guarded by Sierra de la Giganta and was the first settlement that prospered. His name was given by Father Juan Maria de Salvatierra, founding the mission known as the “Head and mother of the Missions of Upper and Lower California.”

History

Loreto, Mexico is considered to be the oldest settlement on the Baja Peninsula. In 1697 Jesuit Juan María Salvatierra established the peninsula’s first permanent mission. The Misión Nuestra Señora de Loreto is more than 200 years old and is open to the public, with mass still being regularly held in the cross-shaped building, where many local Native Americans were brought for conversion during the Spanish colonial period.

Bahia de Loreto National Park

When you visit Bahia de Loreto National Park, you will have the opportunity to see 5 majestic islands, as well as the opportunity to meet the largest mammal in the world, the blue whale and other species such as the fin whale, humpback whale, killer whales, dolphins, sea lions and birds. You can also do sport fishing, diving, snorkeling and outdoor activities such as hiking and camping.
